About HomeShare Oregon

HomeShare Oregon is on a mission to address the affordable housing crisis by connecting homeowners with spare rooms to individuals seeking safe, affordable housing. Our platform, HomeShareOnline.org, empowers communities to create sustainable, mutually beneficial housing solutions.

We are seeking talented developers who are willing to generously volunteer their expertise and join a dedicated team driving real social impact. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a national movement using your technical skills to create meaningful change.


🔧 Our Tech Stack

  • API: Node.js with Express.js and TypeScript, PostgreSQL

  • Background Workers: Node.js with TypeScript running on AWS Lambda

  • Frontend: Next.js with React.js and TypeScript

  • Administration Interface: Node.js with AdminJS

 


🛠 What You’ll Do

As a Volunteer Full-Stack Developer, you’ll collaborate with a small, mission-driven team to:

1. Maintain – Perform ongoing maintenance including dependency and server updates, ensuring platform reliability and security.

2. Fix Bugs – Diagnose and resolve bugs across the API, frontend, and administration interface.

You’ll work closely with the technical and operations teams to keep our platform stable and evolving.


🧩 What We’re Looking For

  • Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL

  • Familiarity with AWS Lambda and Next.js

  • Comfort working in a collaborative, agile environment

  • A strong desire to use your skills for social good
