Area Program Coordinator (Marion & Polk Counties)
As part of HomeShare Oregon’s effort to expand access to affordable housing through homesharing, we are hiring an Area Program Coordinator for Marion & Polk County to serve our participants, advance our programming, and support our long-term sustainability.
The Area Program Coordinator will be an active communicator and relationship manager who works closely with the Homeshare Oregon team and the community at-large to advance Homeshare Oregon’s mission.
The successful candidate will be passionate first and foremost about helping people find affordable housing through homesharing in the Marion & Polk County area through participant support and light case management. This position will represent HomeShare Oregon in the local communities to strengthen and deliver our program, and continuously grow the reach and impact of our programs and services. You will also have the exciting opportunity to develop local events to educate people about homesharing as a way to build community and expand housing at a grassroots level. Responsibilities will include volunteer recruitment and management, program evaluation, and keeping database records up to date.
The right candidate will be mission-driven and a self-starter, highly organized, and will work well independently and will be able to lead volunteer teams. This position will require some evening and weekend work.
This is a HYBRID position (working from home and in the local community with occasional in person team meetings).
Duties and Responsibilities:
80% of your time will be to:
- Communicate with and provide support for participants in a prompt and open fashion, facilitating the exchange of referral and other key information via phone, virtual meetings and email. Provide community resource information as needed.
- Assist and respond to HomeShare participants who need additional support.
- Maintain participant information and application status within HomeShare Oregon systems.
- Execute outreach and establish and maintain relationships with local community organizations, government partners, and community members to educate and build support for the Homeshare Oregon mission.
- Work with our technology team to facilitate and improve participant experience.
- Participate with HomeShare Oregon staff in the collaborative process to deal with challenges and find solutions.
20% of your time will be to:
- Work toward culturally normalizing homesharing and recruit homeowners to participate. This will be done by attending meetings and events to distribute educational materials to raise awareness of the program, as well as present to local organizations. Conduct outreach at tabling events that provide access to home providers who may want to join our program.
- Occasionally host a HomeShare Oregon community event where participants and interested individuals can learn more about our program.
- Complete timely reports including program data and outreach evaluations.
- Build and sustain a volunteer team in Marion-Polk Counties and implement the HomeShare Oregon volunteer strategic engagement plan to engage participants and community members in supporting our program.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- 2-4 years experience designing and managing social service programs.
- Patience and a strong ability to work compassionately with seniors and others who may not be technologically capable of using our systems.
- Familiarity with Hubspot and/or experience with other database management systems
- Ability to work independently while remaining engaged in a strong, mutually -respectful team.
- Clear, friendly, and professional public speaking manner.
- Experience recruiting volunteers, organizing, and/or public affairs.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and/or evenings.
- Must have a cell phone, valid driver’s license, and vehicle with insurance (all mileage will be reimbursed).
- Preference will be give to qualified candidates that live in or around the Marion-Polk county area
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Salary and Benefits:
- Full-time, exempt position.
