According to a study by the Pew Charitable Trust, rising housing costs have driven a surge in homelessness nationwide, with Oregon experiencing one of the sharpest increases. Oregon now has the third-highest rate of homelessness in the U.S., with over 20,000 people unhoused—a number that has grown by 23% from 2020 to 2022 and another 12% from 2022 to 2023.
